today is // a wonderful day for nothing

today was such a simple day, a gentle and easy kind of nothingness.
we got pancakes from a local diner and I curled up and worked on some watercolors while watching "Her." We bought figs from a stand by the side of a road next to the graveyard. they ripened too quickly and tasted like summer.

I am often reminded of this quote from my beaten up copy of the The Great Gatsby, the best of contemplative summer novels. It's kind of like a celebrity gossip magazine meets poetry.
